Oriental Lamb Shanks

This is one of my favourite recipes EVER! I always make it for my guests and they’re always impressed. You might think it’s hard to make but it is not 🙂

Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Cooking Time: 4 hours

Serves: 5-6 people

  • 6 Lamb Shanks (the smaller the better)
  • 7 Spices Mixture – 210 g approximately depending on the size of the shanks
  • Salt & Pepper (lots of it too)
  • Mixed Herbs – 90 g
  • 2 Beef Stock Cubes
  • Water
  • Olive Oil
  • 1 Onion sliced thickly
  • Vegetables of your choice- I use 10 cloves of garlic – 4 potatoes – 3 Carrots- 3 Onions

  1. Preheat Oven to 150 C
  2. Season the meat generously on both side with salt, pepper, mixed herbs and 7 Spices Mixture.
  3. In an oven proof pot, heat some olive oil and sear the meat on all side. ( it should be brown)
  4. Once all meat is seared, place onions on the bottom of the pan and put the meat on top of it. (same pan you used for frying)
  5. Add the vegetables and beef stock and cover it with water. (all meat should be under water)
  6. Cover it well and place in preheated oven for 4 hours. (let it slow cook)

And you’re done! Serve with Rice 🙂
